Volleyball Falls to Bethany 3-1

The Gustavus Adolphus volleyball team saw their six-match winning streak come to an end Saturday after falling to Bethany Lutheran College in the final game of the Bethany Lutheran Triangular 30-27, 30-17, 28-30, 30-19. Andrea Kron (Cold Spring, Minn.) shared game high honors with 14 kills.

The Gustavus Adolphus volleyball team saw their six-match winning streak come to an end Saturday after falling to Bethany Lutheran College in the final game of the Bethany Lutheran Triangular 30-27, 30-17, 28-30, 30-19.

The Gusties out-hit the Vikings in game one, .125 to .087, but came up on the short end of a 30-27 decision. Bethany came out on fire offensively in game two, racking up 16 kills with only five errors, and easily took the game, 30-17. Gustavus took game three, 30-28, mixing their defense and offense effectively. The Gustie defense forced 11 Viking attack errors while the offense hit their high water mark for the match, a .194 attack percentage.
The Gustie success was short-lived, however, as the Vikings knocked in another 16 kills in game four to take the game, 30-19, and the match, 3-1.

Andrea Kron (So.,Cold Spring, Minn.) led Gustavus offensively with 14 kills. She also picked up 11 digs defensively. First-year Emily Klein ( ) led all Gusties with 18 digs, while Rachelle Jakobs and Bridget Burtzel registered 19 and 12 assists, respectively.

The Gusties fall to 7-4 overall and open the home portion of the MIAC slate with a match against Carleton on Wednesday.
