Women’s Hockey Defeats U-W Stevens Point 3-0, Advance to Frozen Four

The Gustavus women’s hockey team defeated U-W Stevens Point 3-0 Saturday night to advance to the Division III Women’s Ice Hockey Frozen Four March 18 and 19 in Elmira, New York.

The Gustavus women’s hockey team defeated U-W Stevens Point 3-0 Saturday night to advance to the Division III Women’s Ice Hockey Frozen Four March 18 and 19 in Elmira, New York. The Gusties were led by Andrea Peterson with two goals and one assist in their win at Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

Molly Doyle scored on a shorthanded goal at 10:50 of the second period to give the Gusties a 1-0 lead. Andrea Peterson was credited with the assist. Peterson scored twice in the final six minutes of regulation to solidify a 3-0 Gustavus win.

Andrea Peterson scored her 57th, 58th, and 59th points in Saturday’s victory making her Gustavus’ all-time single season scoring leader. Sarah Moe previously held the school record with 58 points.

The Gusties improve to 24-3-1 overall and will face Middlebury on Friday in Elmira, New York in the Division III Women’s Ice Hockey Frozen Four. Middlebury is the defending national champion.
