The Gustavus women’s swimming and diving team traveled to Collegeville, Minn. to compete against the College of Saint Benedict in MIAC dual meet action on Saturday, January 29. The Gusties claimed eight individual events and one relay event to outscore the Blazers 156-141.
The team of Laurie Deckantel, Sara Pfau, Katie Garvey and Beth DeLaRosby claimed the 200 medley relay title. The team recorded a time of 1:55.25 to finish ahead of two seconds ahead of second place.
Individually, the Gusties were led by Beth DeLaRosby and Katie Garvey. DeLaRosby won the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:03.04. The senior also recorded a time of 55.23 to win the 100 freestyle. Garvey also claimed two events titles on Saturday for Gustavus. The senior won the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.49 and the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:03.09.
Jess Weggman contributed her best performance of the season in the 500 freestyle in Collegeville on Saturday. Weggman improved her season best time by three seconds to win the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:32.66
Other winners were Larkin Davis in the 1000 freestyle (11:30.02), Yoshi Ludwig in the 200 butterfly (2:24.80) and Sara Pfau in the 200 backstroke (2:17.99).
Gustavus will return to action when it hosts UW-Stevens Point on Saturday, February 5.
