Gustavus received goals from seven different players on its way to an 8-1 victory over Skidmore College. The Golden Gusties (2-5-0) dominated from the start, outshooting the Thoroughbreds (0-3-0) by a count of 17-7 in the opening period. Junior Adam Meyer (Buffalo, Minn.) scored the game’s first goal on a two-man advantage at 5:45, and sophomore Jay Phillips (Bemidji, Minn.) made it 2-0 when he scored off a deflection at 18:26. Gustavus Adolphus then added two goals in the second and four more in the third, including a pair by sophomore Jon Keseley (St. Louis Park, Minn.), to skate away with the 8-1 win.
Sophomore Brett Sawyer (Wyoming, Minn.) finished with 19 saves in the victory for the Golden Gusties, while first-year Ted Levine (New York, N.Y.) stopped 41 shots in net for Skidmore. Junior Jimmy DeLeon (Oxford, Mich.) scored the lone goal in defeat for the Thoroughbreds.
