Women’s Swimming Defeats St. Thomas 111-72

The Gustavus women’s swimming team defeated the University of St. Thomas 111-72 in a conference dual meet on Friday evening. The meet was held in the Lund Natatorium on the Gustavus campus.

The Gustavus women’s swimming team defeated the University of St. Thomas 111-72 in a conference dual meet on Friday evening. The meet was held in the Lund Natatorium on the Gustavus campus.

The Gusties won six of the first seven events in the meet on their way to the convincing MIAC dual meet victory. Katie Garvey led the way for Gustavus as she won the 50 yard freestyle (25.44) and the 100 freestyle (55.53) and was a member of the 200 yard medley and 200 yard freestyle relay teams.

Other winners for Gustavus included Angela Miller in the 1000 yard freestyle (11:37.20), Sara Pfau in the 200 yard individual medley (2:19.73), and Meg Chida in the 100 yard butterfly (1:04.04). The Gusties also won two relays including the 200 yard medley (Katherine Haynes, Eva Miller, Katie Garvey, Laura Watkins) and the 200 yard freestyle (Katie Garvey, Laurie Decknatel, Eva Miller, Laura Watkins).
