Women’s Swimming Falls to Minnesota State

The Gustavus women’s swimming team lost to Minnesota State University 121-155 on Saturday afternoon in St. Peter, Minn. Beth DeLaRosby led the Gusties by winning the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle.

The Gustavus women’s swimming team hosted Minnesota State University-Mankato on Saturday afternoon in St. Peter, Minn. The Mavericks defeated the Gusties 155-121 to hand the Gusties their second dual meet loss of the season.

The Gusties claimed five individual events and one relay event on Saturday at the Lund Natatorium. Beth DeLaRosby won the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle for the third consecutive meet. DeLaRosby recorded a time of 24.36 in the 50 freestyle and a time of 54.71 in the 100 freestyle. Three other Gusties claimed event titles including Katie Haynes in the 100 backstroke (1:03.90), Eva Miller in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.91) and Katie Garvey in the 100 butterfly (1:01.83). The Gustavus women won the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:39.37.

The top individuals for Gustavus will compete in the Minnesota Invite on Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Minneapolis, Minn. The rest of the team will host St. Thomas on Friday night in St. Peter, Minn.
