Tara Houlihan named MIAC Player of the Week Posted on November 1st, 2004 by

Junior outside hitter Tara Houlihan (Sioux Falls, S.D.) was named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s Player of the Week for the second time this season. Houlihan led all players with 23 kills on 51 attempts, while adding 14 digs in a key conference win over St. Mary’s on Wednesday.

Houlihan currently leads the Gusties with 3.35 kills per game and 4.59 digs per game. This season, Houlihan has shattered the career digs record previously set in 1994, compiling 1,213 digs in her three years of volleyball. She has also posted 16 double-doubles this season, second only to the all-time record of 20 that she set last season.

Houlihan and her team are looking forward to their first playoff appearance since the MIAC narrowed the playoff field to six teams in 2001. The Gusties will face the University of St. Thomas at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday in St. Paul.
