Men’s and Women’s Tennis Perform Well at ITA Championships

Gustavus women’s singles player Lauren Hom and the men’s doubles team of Adam Morgan and Brett Morse-Karzen picked up first round wins at the ITA Small College Championships taking place in Fort Myers, Florida.

The 2004 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Small College Tennis Championships opened play Thursday at Florida Gulf Coast University.

Gustavus women’s singles player Lauren Hom won her first round match and will play in the semifinals on Friday morning. Gustavus men’s singles player Ben Lundell lost his opening round match and will play in the consolation round on Friday morning.

The Gustavus men’s doubles team of Adam Morgan and Brett Morse-Karzen won their first round match and will play in the semifinals on Friday afternoon, while the women’s doubles team of Lauren Hom and Kara Smiley, which was seeded #1 was upset. Hom and Smiley did rebound to win their consolation match and will play for fifth place on Friday afternoon.
