The Gustavus women’s soccer team lost to St. Mary’s 3-2 on Wednesday afternoon in Winona, Minn. The Gusties fall to 0-4-0 in the MIAC and 1-4-1 overall, while the Cardinals improve to 1-2-0 in the MIAC and 4-5-1 overall.
St. Mary’s held a two-goal lead at halftime with goals from Ashley Kirkman and Amy Cory. The Cardinals went up 3-0 twelve minutes into the second half with a goal from Maria Laudenbach. The Gusties responded with a goal from Jenna Iaizzo ten minutes later. Amy Kunkel scored in the 86th minute to cut the lead to one goal. The Gusties out-shot the Cardinals 13-1 in the second half but were not able to tie the game up.
Gustavus will be back in action on Saturday against Carleton College in Northfield, Minn.
