The Gustavus men’s and women’s tennis teams have been selected to host NCAA Central Region tournaments this weekend at the Brown Outdoor Courts. The women will be making their 16th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance while the men will be making their 11th consecutive appearance.
The women’s Central Sub-Region tournament consists of three teams including Gustavus, Luther and St. Catherine. Luther will play St. Catherine on Friday afternoon at 2:00 pm with the winner facing the top-seeded Gusties on Saturday morning at 9:00 am. The winner of Saturday’s match will advance to the NCAA National Team Finals which will be hosted by Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, May 12-14.
The men’s Central Sub-Region tournament consists of four teams including #1 seed Gustavus, #2 seed Coe, #3 seed Carleton and #4 seed Carthage. Coe will play Carleton on Saturday at 12:00 pm and then Gustavus will play Carthage at 3:00 pm. The winner of the two matches Saturday afternoon will play on Sunday at 12:00 pm for the championship. The region champion earns the right to move on to the NCAA Team Championship which will take place May 12-14 at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine.
