The first day of competition is complete in the MIAC Men’s Tennis Championship hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College. The top four seeds have advanced to the semifinals scheduled for Saturday at 11:00am.
The first round matches began at 9:30am on Friday. Concordia defeated Bethel College 8-1 to advance to the afternoon quarterfinal against #1 seed Gustavus. St. Olaf defeated Macalester 6-3 to advance to the afternoon quarterfinal match against #2 seed Carleton.
In the quarterfinals, #3 seed St. John’s defeated #6 seed St. Mary’s 7-2, while #2 seed Carleton defeated # 7 seed St. Olaf 7-2. Carleton and St. John’s will play in the semifinal match at 11:00am Saturday on Gibbs Courts. Number one seed Gustavus defeated #8 seed Concordia 8-1, while #4 St. Thomas swept #5 seed Hamline 9-0. Gustavus and St. Thomas will play in the other semifinal match at 11:00am Saturday on Brown Courts.
The winners of the semifinal matches will advance to the final, which is scheduled for 4:30pm Saturday on Brown Courts.
