Women’s Nordic Ski Team Finishes Fourth in the NCAA Central Regional Championships

The Gustavus Adolphus women’s nordic ski team finished fourth place in the NCAA Central Regional Championships held in Houghton, Michigan. Nicole Olson finished 18th in the 5k freestyle race and Kristen DeVries finished 17th in the 15k classical race.

The Gustavus Adolphus women’s nordic ski team ended its season with a a fourth place finish in the NCAA Central Regional Championships. The championships were held Saturday and Sunday at Michigan Tech University in Houghton, Michigan. Northern Michigan won the regional with 168 points, Alaska Fairbanks finished second with 162 points, Wisconsin-Green Bay finished third with 128 points, and Gustavus finished fourth with 112 points.

Nicole Olson led the Gusties on Saturday finishing in 18th place in the 5k freestyle race with a time of 15:27.1. Chandra Daw finished in 23rd place with a time of 16:07.7. Northern Michigan led after the first day of competition with 83 points. Alaska Fairbanks was in second place (82), Wisconsin-Green Bay was in third place (68), and Gustavus was in fourth place (52).

Kristen DeVries led the Gusties on Sunday finishing in 17th place in the 15k classical race with a time of 58:49.7. Ingrid Olson finished in 18th place with a time of 59.13.3. Northern Michigan won the classical race with 85 points. Alaska Fairbanks finished in second place (80), Wisconsin-Green Bay and Gustavus tied for third place (60).
