The Gustavus women’s gymnastics team continued its winning ways with a 183.925-174.950 dual meet win over UW-Stout in Menomonie, Wisconsin. The Gusties set a new school record for team score with their total of 183.925. The previous mark was 183.40 set this year at the Gerson Invitational on January 30.

Ironically, the Gusties did not score a team high in any of their individual event totals, however they scored over 45.00 in each event for the first time this season. Coach Kris Glidden’s squad posted scores of 45.975 on the vault, 45.125 on the uneven bars, 46.225 on the balance beam and 46.600 on the floor exercise.

Individually, Amanda Parker won the all-around for the sixth time this season with a total of 36.725. Parker also won the uneven bars with a score of 9.500. Other event winners for the Gusties included Alyssa Cox on the vault (9.600), and Molly McIntyre on the balance beam (9.425). Ashley Erickson finished second on both the vault (9.475) and the uneven bars (9.475).

Head Coach Kris Glidden was excited about her team’s performance. She stated, “This group really put on a show. The atmostphere at the meet was really fun and our gymnasts scored very well.” The Gusties have a good mix of youth and experience and Glidden feels that the improvement of the younger gymnasts is making this team better. “We have been improving on the floor in every meet and that is due in large part to the improvement of our freshmen Shannon Bank, Stephanie Lovick and Nicole Gergen. This group really performed well at UW-Stout.”

The Gusties will host rival Hamline next Friday night in St. Peter at 7:00 pm.
