Women’s Basketball Loses 74-76 to Saint Mary’s

The Gustavus Adolphus women’s basketball team lost 74-76 to Saint Mary’s on Wednesday night in Winona, Minn. The Gusties were led in scoring by Angie Peterson with 25 points.

The Gustavus Adolphus women’s basketball team lost 74-76 to Saint Mary’s on Wednesday night in Winona, Minn. The Gusties five game win streak has ended and fall to 15-4 in the MIAC and 17-5 overall. The Cardinals improve to 13-6 in the MIAC and 14-8 overall.

The Gusties were up by seven early in the first half but the Cardinals battled back to take a 36-33 lead into the lockerroom. Saint Mary’s would not trail again in the contest and built a nine point lead (60-51) with 12 minutes to play in the game. The Gusties went on a 7-1 run, pulling within three points (61-58) with 10 minutes to go. Gustavus trailed 76-71 with 30 seconds to play and could not capitalize on two straight possessions, each time missing a three-pointer, before Lacey Skoog banked in a three from the top of the key with .6 remaining for the final score.

The Gusties were led in scoring by Angie Peterson with 25 points. Kristin Kachelmyer contributed 12 points and Jennifer Klohs netted 10 points for the Gusties. Gustavus shot 41.8 percent from the field and 40.0 percent from the three-point line.

The Cardinals were led in scoring by Ashley Luehmann with 23 points. Jamie Rattunde and Angie Arrington contributed 18 points each for the Cardinals. Saint Mary’s shot 55.8 percent from the field and 59.1 percent from the three-point line.
