The Gustavus Adolphus women’s basketball team defeated Macalester 73-58 in St. Paul on Wednesday night. The Gusties improve to 16-5 overall and 14-3 in the MIAC, while the Scots fall to 0-20 overall and 0-17 in the MIAC.
Gustavus won its fourth straight with the victory over Macalester. The Gusties had four players in double digits. Angie Peterson led Gustavus with 14 points. Bri Monohan contributed 12 points, Kristin Kachelmyer added 11 points and Jennifer Klohs recorded 10 points.
Afton Hanson led the Scots with 19 points and nine rebounds. Sarah Jacoby contributed 12 points and 10 rebounds. Hannah Radant added 10 points for the Scots.
Neither team shot well from the field on Wednesday night. Gustavus was 26-66 from the field shooting 41.3 percent. Macalester was 22-55 from the field shooting 40 percent. The Gusties recorded 17 steals, two steals ahead of their season average. Macalester out rebounded Gustavus 40-36.
Gustavus will host St. Thomas on Saturday afternoon. The Gusties defeated the Tommies earlier this season 75-69. Tip off is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
