The Gustavus women’s gymnastics team posted a season best score of 183.40 but finished second to host UW-La Crosse (184.650) at the Gershon/McLellan Invitational in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Gustie Amanda Parker won the all-around with a score of 37.875.
The Gusties fell to UW-La Crosse for the second time three weeks, however Coach Kris Glidden’s squad continues to improve each meet. Gustavus has posted a higher team score at each meet this season. On Friday night, the Gusties scored 46.050 on the vault, 43.950 on the uneven bars, 46.625 on the balance beam and 46.775 on the floor exercise.
Individually, Amanda Parker continued to post incredible scores in the all-around. Her score of 37.875 broke her own school record for highest all-around score of 37.80 which she set last year at the Best of Minnesota meet on February 3. Parker won the floor exercise with a score of 9.725 and the balance beam with a score of 9.650. She finished third in the uneven bars (9.175) and fourth on the vault (9.325). Parker’s score of 9.725 on the floor exercise tied her own school record for best floor score which she set a year ago.
Other top finishes for Gustavus included Alyssa Cox finishing first on the vault with a score of 9.575, Molly McIntyre placing fourth on the balance beam (9.50) and sixth on the uneven bars (9.00), and Kathleen Ozbun finishing fifth on the balance beam (9.325).
Final team scores in the invitational were: UW-La Crosse 184.650, Gustavus Adolphus 183.400, UW-Eau Claire 179.950, Winona State 179.950, UW-Oshkosh 170.200.
