Women’s Basketball defeats St. Olaf 89-60

The Gustavus Adolphus women’s basketball team defeated St. Olaf College 89-60 at Skoglund Athletic Center in Northfield, Minn. Wednesday night. Jennifer Klohs scored 23 points to lead the Gusties.

The Gustavus Adolphus women’s basketball team defeated St. Olaf College 89-60 at Skoglund Athletic Center in Northfield, Minn. Wednesday night. The Gusties improve to 11-3 in the MIAC and 13-4 overall, while St. Olaf fall to 1-13 in the MIAC and 1-15 overall.

Jennifer Klohs shot 9-12 from the field and 5-6 from the free throw line to lead the Gusties with 23 points. Angie Peterson contributed 15 points, Bri Monahan followed with 11 points and Kristin Kachelmyer recorded 10 points. Jill Johnson shot 7-13 from the field and 2-3 from the free throw line to lead the Oles with 14 points.

St. Olaf jumped out to an early lead but could not hold off the Golden Gusties. Gustavus took the lead 9-7 with 14:58 to play in the first half on a Kristin Kachelmyer jumper. The Gusties would not trail again for the rest of the game. The Gusties forced 21 turnovers and shot 35-76 from the field for a 46.1 field goal percentage.

Gustavus will face St. Catherine’s on Saturday at Gus Young Court in St. Peter, Minn. Gustavus defeated St. Kate’s 81-58 on December 10 in St. Paul. The Gusties currently lead the all-time series against St. Kate’s 27-3.
