The Gustavus Adolphus women’s basketball team remains undefeated at home (7-0) with a convincing 89-47 victory over Augsburg on Wednesday night at Gus Young Court in Saint Peter. The Gusties improve to 12-3 overall and 10-2 in the MIAC, while the Auggies fall to 3-12 overall and 3-9 in the MIAC.
The Gusties held the Auggies to two points for eight minutes in the first half as they went on a 26-0 run. The Gustie full court press and great team defense forced 20 turnovers and created a 30 point lead at the intermission (47-17).
Gustavus started the second half with a 10-0 run and had no signs of slowing down. Jennifer Klohs led the Gusties in scoring with 19 points, Angie Peterson followed with 16 points, and Kristin Kachelmyer contributed 12 points.
The Gusties will travel to Moorehead, Minn. on Saturday to face Concordia College. The Gusties defeated Concordia earlier this season 62-58 at Gus Young Court in Saint Peter. The Cobbers are currently one spot behind the Gusties with a record of 9-3 in the MIAC and 11-4 overall.
