Women’s Hockey Defeats Bethel 3-0 for Series Sweep

The Gustavus Adolphus women’s hockey team completed a weekend sweep of Bethel College with a 3-0 win at Columbia Arena in Fridley, Minn. on Saturday. Michelle Guimond, Katie Deschneau and Josefin Pettersson each had a goal for the Gusties.

The Gustavus Adolphus women’s hockey team completed a weekend sweep of Bethel College with a 3-0 win at Columbia Arena in Fridley, Minn. The Gusties improve to 9-3 overall and 6-2 in the MIAC, while the Royals fall to 2-7-1 overall and 1-5-1 in the MIAC.

The Gusties had a goal in each period to secure the weekend sweep of the Royals. Michelle Guimond scored the first goal at 15:50 of the first period and was assisted by Kelly Holland and Josefin Pettersson. Katie Deschneau scored on the power play at 13:13 in the second period. Deschneau’s goal was assisted by Andrea Peterson and Laura Stypulkowski. The final goal by Josefin Pettersson came at the 14:43 mark in the third period. Pettersson’s goal was assisted by Katie Deschneau and Annie Katz.

The Gusties recorded their fourth shut-out of the season on Saturday. The Gusties have not given up a goal in 221 minutes of play. Kristen Setterstrom recorded her fourth win of the year turning away 13 shots from the Royals.

The next game for Gustavus will be against St. Olaf on Friday in Northfield, Minn. St. Olaf and Gustavus are tied for second place in the MIAC with 12 points.
