The Gustavus women’s soccer team blanked Augsburg 5-0 in St. Peter on Saturday in a game played in a steady rain.
The Gusties scored two goals within the game’s first three minutes and five goals before halftime to bury the Auggies. Heather Pecosky registered two goals and an assist and Liz Peterson and Amy Larson each had a goal and an assist. Jackie Lehman scored the game-winner just 1:47 into the game.
Lindsey LaVoie went the distance in goal for Gustavus to record the shutout. She only had to make one save as Gustavus outshot Augsburg seven to one.
Gustavus has now beaten Augsburg eight consecutive times in St. Peter. The Gusties now hold a 14-4-1 advantage all-time versus the Auggies.
Gustavus improves to 5-5-1 on the year, 2-3-1 in the conference. Augsburg falls to 7-4-1, 4-3-1 in the MIAC.
The Gusties will continue MIAC play on Tuesday by hosting Bethel at 4:00 pm.
