Petersen Named MIAC Athlete of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus junior Nichole Petersen was named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Hanover Invitational on September 6.

Gustavus Adolphus junior Nichole Petersen was named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Hanover Invitational on September 6. Petersen, a 2001 graduate of Marshall High School, is the daughter of Pete and Colleen Petersen of Arco, Minnesota.
Petersen led the Gusties at the Hanover Invitational in Hanover, Indiana by placing sixth individually in the field of 188 runners with a time of 18:47. Gustavus tied for second place as a team with 93 points at the 5K race, site of this year’s NCAA National Championships. UW-Stevens Point placed first with 75 points. Petersen, a national qualifier from a year ago, is a two-time all-conference and one-time all-region selection athlete.

After hosting an alumni meet this Saturday, the Gusties return to intercollegiate competition on Saturday, September 20 at the Les Duke Invitational hosted by Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa.
