Women’s Cross Country Team Places First at St. Mary’s Invite

The Gustavus women’s cross country team opened the 2003 season with a first place showing at the St. Mary’s Invitational.

The Gustavus women’s cross country team opened the 2003 season with a first place finish at the St. Mary’s Invitational on Saturday, August 30 in Winona.
Two-time all-conference performer Nichole Petersen led the way for the Gusties, as she placed first out of the field of 64. Petersen’s time of 19:18 was twenty-eight seconds in front of teammate Jen Skalko who finished second at the three team invitational.

Gustavus had five out of the top finishers to finish with 16 points. St. Scholastica placed second with 53 and St. Mary’s came in third with 72 points.

The top eight runners for the Gusties will be travleing to Hanover, Indiana to take part in the Hanover Invitational on September 6. The remainder of the team will compete at the St. John’s Invitational on the same day.
