Junior David Martinson is a repeat All-MIAC honoree.Three Men’s Hockey Players Named To All-MIAC Team

Three Gustavus Adolphus men's hockey players have been named All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference by a vote of the league's coaches. Junior David Martinson (St. Louis Park, Minn.), sophomore Josh Swartout (St. Louis Park, Minn.), and first-year Ross Ring-Jarvi, who was also named to the MIAC All-Rookie Team, were recognized. In addition, senior Matt Lopes (East Falmouth, Mass./Bishop Stang) and sophomore Mitch Carlson (St. Louis Park, Minn.) were Honorable Mention All-MIAC selections.

Gustavus Adolphus men's basketball player Jesse Van Sickle (Jr., Garden City, Minn./LCWM) has been named All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference by a vote of the league's coaches. Bobby Johnson (Fy., Edina, Minn.) was named to the All-Rookie Team, while juniors Ryan McPartland (Le Sueur, Minn./Le Sueur-Henderson) and Sam Paulson (Waseca, Minn.) received honorable mention.

Gustavus Adolphus College wide receiver Chad Arlt (Sr., St. Michael, Minn.), offensive lineman Jared Thelemann (Sr., Kilkenny, Minn.), safety Joe Welch (Jr., Hastings, Minn.) and linebacker Tony Palma (Jr., Lino Lakes, Minn.) have been named to the All-MIAC first team, as voted on by the league's coaches.

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference volleyball coaches released their 2008 Post-Season Awards Wednesday, November 5 and honored three Gustavus volleyball players for their play this season. Bridget Burtzel (Sr., Cold Spring, Minn.) and Emily Klein (Sr., Red Wing, Minn.) were named to the 18-member squad, while Klein was named the MIAC Defensive Player of the Year for the third consecutive year.

Four men's soccer players were named to the MIAC All-Conference team for the 2007 season. Senior forward Mike Butterworth (Katy, Tex.) was named the MIAC's Most Valuable Player and earned all-conference honors for the second consecutive year. Senior midfielder Jack Underwood (Fergus Falls, Minn.), junior defender Flynn Stewart-Franzen (Minneapolis, Minn.), and sophomore Fraser Horton (Missoula, Mont.) were also named to the first team.

Gustavus Adolphus College softball players Joyce DeWitz, Julie Mahre, Abby Bernstein, and Rachael Click have been named to All-MIAC Softball team released by the conference office Monday, May 14. Emily Klein was tabbed as an honorable mention All-MIAC selection. Gustavus finished 32-10 overall, setting a school record for wins en route to a second place finish in the MIAC and a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

A total of eight Gustavus Adolphus women's tennis players received All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference recognition Monday. Honored were seniors Tara Houlihan, Lyndsey Palen and Marla Menne, juniors Lauren Hom, Jaime Gaard, Hannah Frericks and Darcy Haubrick and sophomore Jenni White.
