Lake City, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus women’s golf team finished third at the Division 3 Classic, hosted by Carleton College at the Jewel Golf Club on Sunday afternoon.  The Gusties turned in a final round 328 (+39) to finish the tournament with a total score of 654 (+78), one shot behind Carleton who finished with a 653 (+77) on the weekend.  St. Thomas won the tournament with a team score of 648 (+72).

Chloe Altmann (So., Olivia, Minn.) and Lauren Johnson (Jr., Plymouth, Minn.) led the way for the Gusties in the tournament with matching scores of 163 (+19) for the weekend to tie for eighth.  Altmann coupled a final round score of 83 (+11) on Sunday with an opening round 80 (+8) on Saturday to give her the second top-10 of her career.  Johnson was consistent throughout the weekend with an opening round 82 (+10) and a final round 81 (+9) for the first top-10 of her collegiate career.  Jordan Drenttel (Jr., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.), who was the only Gustie to break 80 yesterday, finished with a round of 85 (+13) to finish with a weekend total of 164 (+20), which placed her in a tie for 13th.

This weekend follows a 12th place finish at last year’s Division 3 Classic, and marks Gustavus’ third straight top-five finish to begin the season.  The Gusties will be back in action again next weekend when they travel to Northfield, Minn. to participate in the Small College Classic on Saturday, Sept. 21st and Sunday, Sept. 22nd.
