Sophomore Caitlin Fermoyle finished 14th to lead the Gusties

Northfield, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus women’s cross country team left the campus of St. Olaf College with a sixth place showing at the St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday.  The Gusties ended the afternoon with 165 team points trailing St. Olaf (55), Minnesota State, Mankato (92), Carleton (94), Minnesota-Duluth (107), and St. Thomas (147).  Saturday’s sixth place mark was in a field of 24 teams.

Coming off of her first career win, Caitlin Fermoyle (So., Mendota Heights, Minn.) continued her strong start to 2012.  The sophomore registered the only top 15 finish for the Gusties.  She finished 14th in a time of 23:23.2.

Head coach Dale Bahr is pleased with the way his team is working together and pushing each other in the young season.

“We have three seniors in our front group that are doing a great job of pushing the girls and leading the way,” Bahr stated.

The Gustie women will look forward to Friday, September 28 when they travel to Minnetrista, Minn., to compete in the St. Thomas/Crown Invitational.
