Men’s Swimming Claims Dual Meet Win Over Carleton 195-103 Posted on January 27th, 2007 by

The Gustavus Adolphus College men’s swimming team posted a 195-103 dual meet win over Carleton on Saturday afternoon in St. Peter, Minn. The Gusties, who claimed eight individual event titles and two relays, were led by Matt Stewart, Scott Hagemeyer, and Connor Ziegler, who all picked up two individual event titles.

Stewart, the reigning MIAC Swimmer of the Week, posted wins in the 100 and 200 backstroke, while Hagemeyer took top honors in both the 100 and 200 free, and Ziegler finished first in both the 100 and 200 fly.

The Gusties also claimed impressive wins in the 200 yard medley relay (Josh Waylander, Jonah Winter, Stewart, and Hagemeyer) and the 200 free relay (Brian Amundson, Ben Hanson, Stewart, and Hagemeyer). The 200 free relay posted a NCAA B Provisional qualifying time of 1:24.66.

Other swimmers posting first place finishes in the meet included Ben Hanson in the 1000 free, and Skylar Davis in the 500 free.

The Gusties will wrap up their regular season schedule next Saturday, Feb. 3 by hosting UW-Stevens Point. The meet will begin at 3:00 pm.
