Gustavus women’s cross country runners Hailey Harren (Jr., Cold Spring, Minn.) and Kourtney Joyce (Sr., Wadena, Minn.) have been selected to compete in the 2005 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships on Saturday, November 19 at the Methodist Theological School and Dornoch Golf Club in Delaware, Ohio. Ohio Wesleyan University will host the 2005 NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships. The women’s race will begin at 11 a.m., Eastern Standard Time.

Harren qualified automatically as the individual champion at the Central Region Championships last weekend at Wartburg, outdistancing Hamline’s Keidra Anderson by 43 seconds to win the title. Harren also captured the individual championship at the recent MIAC Cross Country Championships and was named MIAC Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Year. She was also the individual champion at invitationals hosted by Wartburg, St. Olaf and Saint John’s. Harren also finished second at the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota.

Joyce received an at-large selection to the 2005 NCAA Championships after placing fifth at the Central Region. Joyce placed third at the 2005 MIAC Cross Country Championships and has finished in the top ten of every race this season except the Griak, where she finished 12th.
