Men’s Golf in 22nd Place After First Round at NCAA Championships Posted on May 9th, 2005 by

The Gustavus men’s golf team compiled a team score of 329 (+41) and is in 22nd place after the first round of golf at the NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championships. The championships opened on Monday, May 9 at the Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.

Freshman Mark Stuckey (St. Peter, Minn.) is currently tied for 44th place to lead the Gusties with an 18-hole score of 78 (+6). Junior Clayton Johnson (Anoka, Minn.) has recorded a first-round score of 80 (+8) and is tied for 63rd place overall.

Nebraska Wesleyan University currently leads the 23-team field with a first-round team score of 300 (+12). Individually, Pete Weber from Loras College (Dubuque, Iowa) leads the field after one round of play with an 18-hole score of 68 (-4).

The NCAA Championships will continue through Thursday, May 12 at the Mission Inn
Golf and Tennis Resort.
