Men’s Basketball Defeats Carthage 77-70 in Kenosha, Wisconsin

The Gustavus men's basketball team closed out the 2005 portion of its schedule with a 77-70 win over Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin on Friday night. The Gusties, who were playing for the first time in three weeks, struggled at times due to the long layoff, but hit some clutch shots down the stretch to hold on for their seventh win of the season. Senior wing Adam TeBrake led the team in scoring with 22 points.

Men’s Soccer Coach Larry Zelenz Repeats as NSCAA/adidas Division III West Region Coach of the Year

Gustavus Adolphus College head men's soccer coach Larry Zelenz has been named the 2005 National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas NCAA Division III West Region Coach of the Year. This is the second consecutive season that Zelenz has received this award. Zelenz guided the Gusties to a 17-3-5 oveall record, a share of the MIAC regular season title and a runner-up finish in the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championships.

Women’s Hockey Plays #7 UW-Stevens Point to 2-2 Tie

The Gustavus women's hockey team picked up a game-tying goal off the stick of Stefanie Ubl with 9:15 remaining in the third period and held on for a 2-2 overtime tie against seventh-ranked UW-Stevens Point on Tuesday in St. Peter. The third-ranked Gusties move to 8-1-1 on the season, while the Pointers move to 5-2-3.

Mike Hosfield Named MIAC Men’s Hockey Player of the Week

Gustavus junior forward Mike Hosfield has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Hockey Player of the Week. Hosfield scored 5 goals and recorded 1 assist for six points in the Gusties sweep of Hamline last weekend.

Kroog Named to NSCAA / adidas All-America Third Team

Gustavus Adolphus College senior midfielder Bobby Kroog (Bloomington, Minn.) has been named to the 2005 National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas NCAA Division III All-America Third Team. Kroog was also a second team selection in 2003 and a third team selection in 2004.

Men’s Hockey Claims Sweep Against Hamline with 8-2 Win in St. Paul

The Gustavus men's hockey team completed its weekend sweep against Hamline with an 8-2 win at Drake Arena in St. Paul on Saturday night. Loren Havemeier and Mike Hosfield both scored three goals to lead the Gusties.

Women’s Basketball Defeats Carleton 67-58

The Gustavus women's basketball team picked up an important early season win by knocking off first place Carleton 67-58 in St. Peter, Minn. on Saturday evening. Sophomore wing Jess Vadnais led all scorers with 26 points, while teammate Bri Monahan contributed 23 points.

Women’s Hockey Beats Hamline 8-1

The Gustavus women's hockey team scored five goals in the third period Saturday to beat Hamline 8-1 on Don Roberts Ice Rink in St. Peter. With the win, the Gusties completed the season sweep over Hamline after beating the Pipers 3-1 Thursday evening. Gustavus was led by sophomore Stefanie Ubl and junior Kelly Crandall who each tallied three points.

Men’s Basketball Gets Back on Winning Track with 91-66 Win at Minnesota-Morris

The Gustavus men's basketball team improved to 6-1 on the season with an impressive 91-66 win over the University of Minnesota-Morris in Morris on Friday night. Adam TeBrake led the Gusties with 22 points.

Men’s Hockey Wins Physical Contest With Hamline 6-2

The Gustavus men's hockey team scored three goals in the first 11 minutes of the game and never looked back, downing Hamline, 6-2, in a physical contest Friday night in St. Peter that saw an hour's worth of penalty minutes called in the third period alone. The Gusties improve to 6-2-0 overall, 3-0-0 in the MIAC. Hamline drops to 1-8-2 overall, 0-4-1 in the MIAC. Action shifts to Drake Arena in St. Paul for Saturday night's game.
