2020 Softball Season Preview
The Gustavus softball team will begin its 2020 campaign this weekend in Rochester for a pair of games on Saturday and Sunday at the Rochester Regional Bubble. The Gusties will take on Domincan at 6 p.m. Saturday followed by UW-Eau Claire at 8 p.m. On Sunday, Gustavus will face Luther at 2 p.m. and Mount Mary at 6 p.m.
Women’s Hockey Hosts Saint Mary’s Saturday in MIAC Semifinals
No. 4 Gustavus women’s hockey is set to host Saint Mary’s at 2 p.m. Saturday for a MIAC semifinal at Don Roberts Ice Rink. The Gusties, who earned the No. 1 seed in playoffs with a 15-1-2 conference record, enter the game 20-3-2 overall, while the No. 5 seed Cardinals are 10-13-3 overall.
Track and Field Set for MIAC Indoor Championships
The Gustavus men's and women's track and field teams will travel to Saint John's this weekend for the MIAC Indoor Championships. The men’s heptathlon and women’s pentathlon were on Thursday while the rest of the events run Friday and Saturday.
Men’s Hockey Ends Season with 3-2 Loss at St. Thomas
The Gustavus men's hockey team ended their season Thursday with a 3-2 loss to St. Thomas. With the loss the Gusties end their season at 11-12-3 overall.
Women’s Basketball Ends Season with Loss to No. 9 Bethel
The Gustavus women's basketball team traveled to No. 9 Bethel Thursday for a MIAC semifinal matchup and fell 70-62. The Gusties finish their season 18-8 overall, while the Royals move to 25-1 with the win.
Men’s Hockey Set for Quarterfinal Matchup at St. Thomas
The Gustavus men’s hockey team is set for a MIAC quarterfinal playoff contest against the University of St. Thomas at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Mendota Heights, Minn. The winner will advance to the semifinals Saturday against Saint John's University. The No. 5-seed Gusties enter with an 11-11-3 overall record, while the No. 4-seed Tommies are 12-10-3 overall. The last playoff meeting between these teams was in 2018, and resulted in a 5-4 overtime win for the Gusties.
Women’s Basketball Travels to Bethel for MIAC Semifinals Thursday
The Gustavus women's basketball team will travel to No. 9 Bethel on Thursday for an MIAC semifinal matchup at 7 p.m. The Gustis enter the contest 18-8 overall while the Royals are 24-1.
Women’s Basketball Advances to MIAC Semis with Win Over Hamline
The Gustavus women's basketball team hosted Hamline in an MIAC quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday night and advanced to the semifinals with a 84-76 victory. With the win the Gusties move to 18-8 overall and 14-7 against MIAC opponents, while Hamline ends its season 15-11 overall and 10-11 in the MIAC.
Fundraising Underway for Lund Center Expansion Project
Gustavus is fundraising for an ambitious $60 million project that will expand and renovate the College's wellness and athletic facility.
Rooney Named National and MIAC Track Athlete of the Week
Taylor Rooney (Jr., Andover) clocked another sub-8.05 effort in the 60-meter hurdles last weekend when he went 8.00 at the Maverick Invitational to better his NCAA Division III lead, setting a new Gustavus school record. For his performance, Rooney has been named both USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week and MIAC Track Athlete of the Week.
