DiNella, Klein Named CCM/AHCA Division III Women’s Hockey All-Americans

Gustavus women’s hockey student-athletes Amanda DiNella (Jr., Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.) and Kaitlyn Klein (Sr., Plymouth, Minn.) were selected as 2018 CCM/AHCA Women’s Division III All-Americans, released on Thursday night. For the second consecutive season, DiNella was named the West First Team goaltender, while Klein garnered Second Team honors.

Softball Breaks Out The Bats In Day One Of Tucson Invitational

After nearly three weeks without playing a game, the Gustavus softball team won its first two games at the Tucson Invitational on Thursday, breaking out the bats with 23 combined runs and 23 hits. The Gusties defeated Dubuque 12-6 followed by an 11-3 win against Stevens Institute of Technology to improve to 3-3 on the season.

Saturday’s Men’s Tennis Match At Saint John’s Postponed

The Gustavus men's tennis match against Saint John's scheduled for Saturday is postponed due to the Sta-Fit dome in Sartell, Minn. collapsing from last week's heavy snowfall. A makeup date will be announced soon. The Gusties next play on March 24 as a split squad. The Black and Gold hosts Augustana and Bethel, while a second squad travels to Washington University-St. Louis. 

Baseball’s Home-Opening Weekend Games Cancelled

The Gustavus baseball team has cancelled its home-opening weekend games against Mounty Marty on Saturday and Sunday due to lingering snow on the field. The games will not be made up. The Gusties are now off until March 31 when they will host Macalester in the new home opener on the brand-new field turf, which will also mark the start of MIAC play.

Softball Returns To Action This Week At Tucson Invitational

After nearly three weeks away from competition, the Gustavus softball team returns to the diamond this week under the sunny Arizona skies as it will participate in the Tucson Invitational Thursday through Monday. The Gusties, who started the season 1-3 with games at the Rochester Regional Bubble Feb. 24-25, will play 10 games in five days.

Gustavus Football Announces 2018 Summer Camp Dates

The Gustavus football team has set dates for its 2018 summer camps. The Golden Gustie Youth Camp for campers in grades 3-8 will take place in two sessions – the first June 14-15 and the second June 21-22. The Golden Gustie 7-on-7 Passing Tournament for high school teams will be held June 20. Both camps will be held at Hollingsworth Field on the Gustavus campus.

Alhouni Named MIAC Men’s Tennis Athlete Of The Week

Gustavus men's tennis student-athlete Mohanad Alhouni (Sr., Tripoli, Libya) won both of his doubles matches and split his singles at the No. 1 spot, as the Gusties lost 4-3 at Division I UW-Green Bay and then defeated No. 40-ranked UW-Whitewater 8-1. Alhouni took his Division I singles opponent to three sets in his first loss in more than a month, and rebounded the next day with a decisive 6-1, 6-2 win. Alhouni and doubles partner Patrick Whaling (Jr., Manikob Sabot, Va.) won both of their matches over the weekend, starting with a 6-4 decision against a D-I opponent last Saturday. For his performance, Alhouni was named MIAC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week.

Valentine Named MIAC Women’s Tennis Athlete Of The Week

Gustavus women's tennis student-athlete Ginger Valentine (Fy., Delano, Minn.) won all four of her matches last weekend in Rock Island, Ill. against Augustana College and No. 28-ranked UW-Whitewater. Valentine's singles victory in a tiebreaker was the game-winning point against UWW. The first-year competitor has won each of her last three matches in both singles and doubles action. For her performance, Valentine was named MIAC Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week. 

Miller, Rice Named D3hoops.com All-West Region

D3hoops.com released its 2018 Women’s All-Region Teams on Tuesday morning and Gustavus student-athletes Mikayla Miller (Sr., Goodhue, Minn.) and Miranda Rice (Sr., Forest Lake, Minn.) received recognition. Miller was named to the five-player All-West Region Second Team for the second consecutive year, while Rice was named to the six-player Third Team.

Gustie Baseball Swept By Luther On Sunday

The Gustavus baseball team was swept by Luther College on Sunday afternoon, falling 12-0 and 10-5 while moving its overall record to 5-6 on the season.
