Schmidt’s Overtime Game-Winner Leads Men’s Hockey To MIAC Championship
Colton Schmidt (So., Eden Prairie, Minn.) scored 2:38 into the overtime period, leading the No. 4 seed Gustavus men's hockey team to a 4-3 victory over the No. 1 seed University of St. Thomas Saturday evening to advance to the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Playoff Championship game.
Early Lead Fades Away As Women’s Basketball Falls In MIAC Championship Game
The Gustavus women’s basketball team was unable to upend league champion St. Thomas Saturday in the MIAC playoff title game, losing 62-56. The Gusties led after the first quarter, but seven unanswered points in the second quarter gave the Tommies the advantage for good as they secured an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Gustavus will wait to see if it receives an at-large bid when the NCAA announces the championship field Monday afternoon.
