Sonnek Named MIAC Men’s Swimmer Of The Week

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Men’s Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week award this afternoon, with Gustavus junior Tanner Sonnek (North Mankato, Minn.) earning the weekly honor.

Nora Holtan Earns Second Consecutive AVCA First Team All-America Honor

The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced its 37th annual All-America teams for Division III on Tuesday and Gustavus star setter Nora Holtan (Jr., Rochester, Minn.) has been named to the First Team, while her younger sister Kate Holtan (Fy., Rochester, Minn.) received Honorable Mention.

Veldman, Berkner Garner MIAC Football Player Of The Week Accolades

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its football Athlete of the Week awards this afternoon, with Gustavus quarterback Michael Veldman (Jr., Becker, Minn.) earning the Offensive Player of the Week honor and Matt Berkner (Jr., Sleepy Eye, Minn.) receiving the Defensive Player Of The Week award. 

Swimming & Diving Sweeps St. Olaf

The Gustavus men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams hosted St. Olaf in a MIAC dual meet Saturday at Vic Gustafson Pool. The Gustie men won 215-77, while the women won 168-131. The women claimed nine first-place finishes and the men claimed 13 in the convincing win.

Volleyball Captures NCAA Region Title, Advances To ‘Elite 8’

Gustavus volleyball punched its ticket to the NCAA quarterfinals Saturday night, upsetting region host and No. 1 seed Northwestern-St. Paul in four sets. The Gusties captured their first region championship in program history and reach the “Elite 8” for the first time since 1984.

Men’s Hockey Falters In Third Period, Falling 5-3 Versus UW-Stout

Down two goals after the first period, the Gustavus men's hockey team came out of the break with two of their own but gave up three to eventually fall by a 5-3 decision Saturday evening against the University of Wisconsin-Stout at Don Roberts Ice Rink.

Women’s Hockey Sweeps St. Olaf With 3-0 Shutout

The Gustavus women's hockey team earned a series sweep over St. Olaf College Saturday afternoon, led by a shutout performance from Amanda DiNella (Jr., Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.) and Bailey Jackson (Fy., Chaska, Minn.), as well as a three-point game from Erica Power (Sr., Lakeville, Minn.) in the 3-0 victory.

Football Posts Season Finale Shutout Over Carleton

The Gustvaus football team blanked Carleton College by a score of 52-0 during the season finale and senior day Saturday afternoon at Hollingsworth Field, finishing the season with a 5-5 overall record and 4-4 mark in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Women’s Cross Country Finishes 6th At NCAA Central Region, Men 12th

The Gustavus men’s and women’s cross country teams competed at the NCAA Central Region meet Saturday, hosted by Carleton College. The women’s team posted a sixth place finish out of 32 teams, while the men took 12th out of 29. Sadie Klug (Sr., Waseca, Minn.) led the women with a 15th place finish, crossing the line in a career-best time of 22:26.5, which is tied for the 20th best 6K time in program history. Andrew Stumbo (Fy., Boone, Iowa) paced the men’s squad, finishing in 38th place with a time of 26:03.9.

Men’s Hockey Earns 3-1 Win Over UW-Superior

The Gustavus men's hockey team tallied an even strength, power play, and shorthanded goal in a 3-1 non-conference victory over the University of Wisconsin-Superior Friday evening at Don Roberts Ice Rink.
