Baseball Swept By Concordia, Carlson Sets Program Assists Record

The Gustavus baseball team suffered a doubleheader sweep Friday against Concordia, dropping the first game 1-0 before a 9-5 loss in the nightcap. In a day that featured a pair of losses, the bright spot during the contests happened in the eighth inning of game two as Danny Carlson (Sr., Plymouth, Minn.) became the program's all-time assists leader, surpassing Mike DesLauriers (2006-09) with 416 career assists.

Gustavus Ranks 36th In Nation As “Best College For Sports Lovers”

Gustavus Adolphus College ranks 36th among colleges and universities across the United States as a “Best College for Sports Lovers,” according to a recent list compiled by MONEY Magazine and Sports Illustrated. Among the top 100 schools across all three divisions of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, Gustavus ranks fifth in Division III and is the only member of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference on the list.

The Gustavus men’s tennis team is set for its final Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season matchup, traveling to St. Paul, Minn. to face the University of St. Thomas.

Track & Field To Host Drake Alternative Invite Saturday

After an impressive showing last Saturday at the Carleton Relays that saw second place finishes by both the Gustavus men’s and women’s track & field teams, the Gusties return home Saturday to host the Drake Alternative Invitational. The meet begins with field events at 10 a.m. followed by running events at 12:15 p.m. Teams competing include Augsburg, Bemidji State, Bethany Lutheran, Concordia-St. Paul, Crown, Gustavus, Martin Luther, Minnesota-Duluth, Minnesota-Morris, Minnesota State-Mankato, and St. Thomas.

Women’s Tennis Wraps Up Regular Season This Weekend

After claiming a pair of shutouts on Sunday, the Gustavus women’s tennis team wraps up the regular season Friday and Saturday. The Gusties host St. Olaf at 4 p.m. Friday and then close out the regular season at noon Saturday at St. Thomas. Gustavus has secured a spot in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference playoffs and is now jostling for seeding. The Gusties enter the weekend 15-7 overall and 7-1 in the MIAC, which has them in third place behind Carleton and St. Thomas, who both own a perfect 8-0 record in the league.

Two Key MIAC Twin Bills On Deck For Baseball This Weekend

After a week of inclement weather that caused a doubleheader to be postponed three different times, the Gustavus baseball team is now set for a pair of key Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference twin bills this weekend. The Gusties host Concordia at 2:30 p.m. Friday, which was originally scheduled for Tuesday, and then travel to Bethel for a 1 p.m. tilt Saturday. Sunday’s non-conference doubleheader at Minnesota-Morris has been cancelled and will not be made up.

Athletics Department Set To Host Third Annual “Golden Gusties” Awards Banquet May 15

The Gustavus Adolphus College Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is set to host the third annual all-athlete, end of the year banquet entitled the “Golden Gusties” on Monday, May 15 in Don Roberts Ice Rink. The Golden Gusties is an awards banquet celebrating the accomplishments of the College’s athletic teams and its student-athletes over the course of the 2016-17 academic year.
