Second Half Comeback Not Enough, Men’s Basketball Falls 69-65 At St. Olaf

Despite erasing a double-digit deficit to come within two points in the second half, the Gustavus men’s basketball team was unable to take the lead in a 69-65 loss at St. Olaf on Wednesday. The loss is the first for the Gusties in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as they move to 2-1 and 2-3 overall, while the Oles improve to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in the league.

Men’s Hoops Travels To St. Olaf Tonight

The Gustavus men’s basketball team is set for its second straight Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup on the road as it travels to St. Olaf for a 7 p.m. tipoff tonight. The Gusties enter the contest with a 2-2 overall record and 2-0 mark in the MIAC, while the Oles are 2-3 overall and 0-1 in the league. Gustavus most recently defeated Macalester 83-68 Saturday in St. Paul, while St. Olaf most recently lost 67-59 to Bethel in Northfield last Tuesday.

Sonnek Earns Second Straight MIAC Weekly Honor After Record-Setting Performance

Gustavus sophomore Tanner Sonnek (North Mankato, Minn.) turned in a record-setting performance at the University of Minnesota's Jean Freeman Invitational to win his second-straight MIAC weekly award. Sonnek broke his own school record in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 56.12, which resulted in a second-place finish. He also finished seventh in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:09.08) and eighth in the 200-yard IM (2:02.21) in a top-notch field that included Division I and II teams. Sonnek is currently ranked No. 1 in the MIAC in both the 100- and 200-breast events, and third in the 200-IM.

Women’s Basketball Set To Host St. Olaf

The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s basketball team continues Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play Wednesday evening, hosting St. Olaf College at Gus Young Court. The 7-0 Gusties are set to tip off against the 2-5 Oles at 7 p.m.

Women’s Hockey Prepares For No. 3 UW-River Falls

The Gustavus women’s hockey team is set to face off for a non-conference series with the No. 3 ranked University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

Men’s Basketball Cruises To 83-68 Win At Macalester

The Gustavus men’s basketball team improved to 2-0 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference on Saturday with an 83-68 victory at Macalester College. The Gusties never trailed throughout the game and took advantage of their opportunities from the free throw line, making 20-of-22.
