St. Cloud, Minn. – Gustavus Adolphus golfer Tyler McMorrow (St. Cloud, Minn.) has qualified for the 113th U.S. Amateur Championship following his performance at the U.S. Amateur Sectional Qualifier held this weekend at the St. Cloud Country Club.  McMorrow, a senior to-be on head coach Scott Moe’s squad, fired a three-under-par 139 to share medalist honors alongside Casey Vangsness of Alexandria, Minn.   He shot a two-under 69 on day one and a one-under 70 on day two.

With his performance this weekend, McMorrow will now travel to Brookline, Mass. where he will compete in the U.S. Amateur Championship being held at the Country Club on August 12-18.  Joining Tyler will be Vangsness and third place finisher Jesse Bull of Minneapolis.

This past season, McMorrow earned a spot on the GCAA Division III PING All-American Third Team following a superb performance at the 2013 NCAA Championships.  The St. Cloud product shot a team-best two-over-par 290 to finish in a tie for fifth place overall.  He concluded the year ranked 33rd in the nation in stroke average (74.82) after 22 rounds.
