Gustavus Adolphus College women’s basketball coach Mickey Haller has announced her resignation effective immediately due to personal and family reasons.  Haller served as the head coach of the women’s basketball program for the past 12 seasons compiling a record of 226-94 overall.

“I appreciate the opportunity to have been associated with Gustavus for the past 15 years and will always cherish the friendships that I have made with the student-athletes, staff, and alumni,” stated Haller.

The all-time leader in coaching victories at Gustavus with 226, Haller was named the MIAC Coach of the Year three times (2002, 2003, and 2006) and directed her teams to regular season league titles in 2003 and 2010.  She worked with 10 players who earned all-conference honors 20 times, including two MIAC Players of the Year (Jess Vadnais and Bri Radtke).  In addition, Haller’s teams were ranked in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 ten times in her 12-year career.

“Mickey will be missed by her team, coaches, and colleagues at Gustavus,” stated Athletics Director Al Molde.  “Clearly, Mickey is a successful coach who established a championship program at Gustavus in women’s basketball.  We thank her for her outstanding contributions to our highly successful athletic program and wish her well in her future endeavors.”

A search for a new head women’s basketball coach will begin immediately.
