Women’s Cross Country Sustains No. 8 Regional Ranking Posted on September 20th, 2011 by

After placing in the top-five in its first two meets of the season, the Gustavus women’s cross country team upheld its No. 8 Central Region ranking in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) DIII Regional Cross Country Week 2 rankings. St. Olaf jumped into the No. 1 ranking (No. 2 in Week 1) ensuing a first place finish last weekend at the Oles’ home meet – the St. Olaf Invitational.

The MIAC continues to hold a prominent standing in the regional rankings. Including Gustavus and St. Olaf, the MIAC has five schools in the Central’s top-10. Carleton College, the College of Saint Benedict and University of St. Thomas all maintained their week one ranking – Carleton in fourth, St. Benedict sixth and St. Thomas seventh.

The Gusties have the upcoming weekend off and will travel to Colfax, Wis. for the 2011 Blugold Open, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The women’s 6K race will be held at the rolling hills of Whitetail Golf Course. The starting-gun will fire at 4:00 p.m.
