Junior Trevor Gervais finished in a four-way tie for 4th place at the Saint John's Invite.

The Gustavus men’s golf team shot its way to a third place finish out of 21 teams at the Saint John’s Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, which was played at Greystone Golf Course and Blackberry Ridge Golf Course in Sauk Centre, Minn. and Sartell, Minn. The Gusties combined for a 36-hole total of 322-295-617 (+41), six shots behind winner University of Manitoba (306-305-611, +35) and five shots behind second-place Saint John’s (317-295-612, +36).

Trevor Gervais, playing on Gustavus’ second team, recorded the Gusties’ lowest score at eight-over-par (77-75-152) and finished in a four-way tie for fourth place. The top shooter for the varsity squad was Andrew Oakes, posting a 78-75-153 (+9) for eighth. Also reaching the top-25 in the 115-participant meet for Gustavus included Alex Kolquist in 14th after shooting an 81-74-155 (+11) and Simon Erlandsson in 22nd with an 85-71-156 (+12).

Pat Deitz of Concordia College won the event with a score of 72-77-149 (+5). Manitoba’s Bryce Barr took second at 77-73-150 (+6) and Tony Krogen of the host Johnnies placed third at 77-74-151 (+7).

The Gusties, who now have two third-place finishes in their first two meets of the season, will make their fall trip to Florida to compete at the Gordin Collegiate Classic. The tournament will be played in Howley-in-the-Hills, Fla. on Sept. 24-27.
