Women’s Cross Country Takes Home Third Place At Saint John’s Invite Posted on September 9th, 2011 by

Gustavus junior Beth Hauer finished in seventh place at the Saint John's Invite with a time of 24:16.

The Gustavus women’s cross country team finished in third place out of eight teams at the Saint John’s Invite in Collegeville, Minn. on Friday. The Gusties tallied a score of 73 points and averaged a time of 25:12.4 in the 6K race.

Junior Beth Hauer continued to race well for the Gusties with a seventh-place finish, crossing the finish line in 24:16. Rebecca Hare, Danielle Burgmeier, and Caitlin Fermoyle also cracked the top-20 for Gustavus.  Hare went 25:05 to take 12th, Burmeier turned in a time of 25:12 to finish 13th, and Fermoyle recorded a time of 25:35 to place 19th.

The College of Saint Benedict won the event with 32 points, producing three of the top six runners of the day.  The University St. Thomas rounded out the top three in second place with 48 points.

Linda Keller of the University of Minnesota-Morris won the race with a time of 22:41.  Tommies Taylor Berg (23:33) and Erin Statz (23:42) went back-to-back in second and third place, respectively.

The Gustie women are set to travel to Northfield, Minn. on Saturday, Sept. 17 for their next race at the St. Olaf Invitational. The 6K race will begin at 11:00 a.m.
