Women’s Golf In First After Day One Of The Geogrianni Memorial UW-Eau Claire Invite

The Gustavus women's golf team sits in first place after the first day of the Doug Georgianni Memorial UW-Eau Claire Invite. The Gusties ended the first day with a seven shot advantage over second place UW-Eau Claire in the 21 team tournament after the team opened round one with a score of 306. Gustavus senior Kali Griggs is the individual leader after she shot an opening round score of 73 (+1).

Women’s Soccer Falls To Whitworth University 1-0

The Gustavus women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season as they fell to Whitworth University by a score of 1-0 on Sunday on the Gustavus Soccer Field. After 73 scoreless minutes, Lindsey Oakes found the back of the net for the Pirates to give Whitworth the lead for good. Gustavus falls to 2-1-0 on the season, while the Pirates improve to 2-0.

Women’s Golf Begins 2009 Season With High Expectations

The Gustavus women's golf team moved to the top of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference last year after claiming the program's first ever league title. MIAC Coach of the Year Scott Moe returns four of the five golfers that led the team to the MIAC title, including National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) All-Americans Kali Griggs and Katie Schenfeld, and MIAC Rookie of the Year Taylor Drenttel. The Gusties begin the year ranked #3 in the NGCA Division III Coaches' Poll.

Men’s Soccer Battles Whitworth To 1-1 Draw

Just when it seemed like the Gustavus men's soccer team was going to register a hard-fought 1-0 win over visiting Whitworth University, Kekoa Mountcastle scored just over a minute remaining in regulation play to tie the score at 1-1. The two teams played scoreless soccer through two 10 minute overtimes and the result was a 1-1 tie. The Gustavus goal was scored by Justin Eglseder in the 62nd minute with an assist from Fraser Horton.

Volleyball Team Finishes 2-2 At UW-Eau Claire Invitational

The Gustavus volleyball team split its two games on the second and final day of the UW-Eau Claire Invitational Tournament. The Gusties defeated the College of St. Scholastica 3-0. The scores for the sets were 25-21, 26-24, and 25-12. The Gusties lost their second game of the day to UW-Eau Claire by scores of 18-25, 25-23, 25-23, 19-25, and 3-15. The Gusties record now stands at 2-3 on the season.

Women’s Soccer Team Defeats Martin Luther College 11-0

The Gustavus women's soccer team moved to 2-0 on the season with a convincing 11-0 win over Martin Luther College on Friday at the Gustavus Soccer Field. Junior forward Ashley Anderson led the Gusties with three goals (all in the first half), while Jordan Brunsberg tallied the first two goals of her collegiate career. Goalkeepers Chelsea Bayer and Jessica Richert combined to get the shutout for Gustavus.

Volleyball Posts 1-1 Record On First Day Of UW-Eau Claire Invite

The Gustavus volleyball team split its first two matches of the UW-Eau Claire Invitational Tournament on Friday evening. In the first match of the day, Gustavus fell to UW-Stout 3-0. The scores for the sets were 22-25, 23-25, and 13-25. The Gusties rebounded to win their second match by a score of 3-0 over Judson University of Illinois. The scoring for the second match was 25-16, 25-21, and 25-16. The Gusties are now 1-2 overall on the young season.

Men’s Golf Team Named Academic National Champions by Golf Coaches Association of America

The Gustavus men's golf team has been selected by the Golf Coaches Association of America as the Academic National Champions for Division III. Coach Scott Moe's 2008-09 squad was the only team in Division III to post a cumulative team grade point average above 3.50. This is the first year that the GCAA has honored teams for their academic standing.

Women’s Cross Country Finishes First at Northland Invitational

The Gustavus women's cross country team hit the ground running as they placed first in the Northland College Invite on Tuesday in Ashland, Wisconsin. Gustavus, which took five of the top six places in the meet, were led by junior Brooke Beskau's first place finish in a time of 23:56.

Men’s Cross Country Finishes First at Northland Invitational

The Gustavus men's cross country team got off to a solid start in its 2009 season with a first place finish out of four teams at the Northland College Invite in Ashland, Wisconsin on Tuesday. Gustavus was led by Mark Hartman and Anders Bowman who finished first and second overall with times of 27:52 and 28:05, respectively.
