Women’s Hockey Falls To UW-River Falls 2-1 in NCAA Quarterfinal Game

The Gustavus women's hockey team saw its 2009 season come to a close with a disappointing 2-1 loss to UW-River Falls in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday afternoon in St. Peter. Kayleigh Bell scored the game-winning goal for the Falcons on the power play at 11:30 of the third period. UW-River Falls now advances to play Elmira in a NCAA Semifinal game next Friday, March 20 in Middlebury, Vt. Gustavus concludes its season with a record of 22-2-4.

Kaelene Lundstrum Finishes Fifth In Pentathlon, Seventh In High Jump At NCAA Indoor Championships

Junior Kaelene Lundstrum finished fifth in the pentathlon and tied for seventh in the high jump at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday in Terre Haute, Indiana. Lundstrum earned 3,366 points in the pentathlon and cleared a height of 5 feet, 3 1/4 inches in the high jump. Senior Tyler Geyen advanced the 55-meter hurdle final after finishing tied for second place with a time of 7.54 seconds in his qualifying heat.

Nordic Skier Kelly Chaudoin Places 33rd In Classic Race at NCAA Championships

Gustavus nordic skier Kelly Chaudoin finished 33rd in the 5K Classic race at the NCAA Ski Championships held at Black Mountain in Rumford, Maine on Thursday. Chaudoin posted a time of 15:29.7 over a an icy track that resulted from rainy conditions on Wednesday and cold temperatures on Thursday morning.

Men’s Hockey Prepared For NCAA Quarterfinal Game Against UW-Superior On Saturday

The Gustavus men's hockey team (17-10-0) will face UW-Superior (23-3-3) in the quarterfinal round in the NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey Tournament on Saturday night at 7 pm at Superior, Wis. Kaelene Lundstrum Named Outstanding Women’s Field Athlete At MIAC Championships

Gustavus Adolphus junior Kaelene Lundstrum (Bird Island, Minn.) has been named the Outstanding Women's Field Athlete at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships after winning titles in the pentathlon and the high jump. Lundstrum also as earned the Women's Outstanding Performance of the Meet for her performance in the pentathlon.

Tickets On Sale For Men’s Hockey NCAA Quarterfinal Game Against UW-Superior

Pre-sale tickets are now available for the Gustavus men's hockey NCAA Quarterfinal game against on Saturday, March 14 at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are $10 regardless of age and can only be purchased with a Visa or Mastercard over the telephone. Individuals interested in purchasing tickets in advance should contact Tami at UW-Superior at 715-395-4693. There is a limit of 250 pre-sale tickets available for Gustie fans.

Women’s Hockey Set To Host UW-River Falls in NCAA Quarterfinal Game on Saturday

The Gustavus women's hockey team has been selected to participate in the NCAA Tournament and the Gusties will host the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in a quarterfinal game on Saturday, March 14 at 2:00 pm at Don Roberts Ice Rink. This is the eighth consecutive year that Gustavus has been selected to participate in the NCAA Tournament.

Matt Lopes Named MIAC Men’s Hockey Player of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus College senior goaltender Matt Lopes (East Falmouth, Mass./Bishop Stang) has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending March 15, 2009. Lopes made 17 saves in the Gusties' 5-2 win over Hamline in the MIAC Playoff Championship game last Wednesday in St. Peter.

Baseball Team Sweeps Doubleheader Against Wartburg

The Gustavus baseball team earned a doubleheader sweep over Wartburg College on Sunday night at the Metrodome. Cody Sukalski and Jake Kruegel combined to pitch a shutout for a 3-0 win in game one, while a nine-run sixth inning gave the Gusties a 13-6 win for the sweep. Gustavus, which is now 3-1 overall, will travel to Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa for a doubleheader on Sunday, March 15 with the first pitch at 1 p.m.

Tyler Geyen, Kaelene Lundstrum, and Diana Scott To Participate In NCAA Track and Field Championships

Senior Tyler Geyen, junior Kaelene Lundstrum, and junior Diana Scott have qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships which will take place this Friday and Saturday at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana. Geyen qualified in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.59 seconds, while Scott qualified in the weight throw with a distance of 53 feet, 6 1/4 inches. Lundstrum qualified in the pentathlon with 3,445 points and the high jump at a height of 5 feet, 5 3/4 inches.
