Football Loses Homecoming Game 30-22 To St. Thomas

The Gustavus football team scored 22 second half points after facing a 16-0 halftime deficit, but it would not be enough as St. Thomas held on for a 30-22 victory to spoil Homecoming for the Gusties on Saturday in St. Peter. St. Thomas running back Ben Wartman ran for 196 yards and two touchdowns as the Tommies held the ball for 39:28 during the game compared to 20:32 for Gustavus. The Gusties dropped to 2-2 overall and 1-2 in the MIAC.

Women’s Soccer Gets Late Goal To Beat Pipers 1-0

The Gustavus women's soccer team got a late goal from Mackenzie Del Santro to squeak out a 1-0 victory over the Pipers from Hamline University on a gorgeous Homecoming in St. Peter, Minn. Del Santro's goal came with only 2:45 remaining on the clock as she collected a rebound and tapped it into the open goal. Senior Ashley Ohlson picks up the shutout win for Gustavus, who improves its record to 4-5-2 on the season (2-2-1 in the MIAC). Hamline falls to 5-6-0 overall and 1-5-0 in MIAC play with the loss.

Men’s And Women’s Golf Teams Compete At MIAC Championships This Weekend

The Gustavus men's and women's golf teams will take part in the MIAC Championships this weekend at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids. The 54-hole tournament will begin on Saturday and conclude on Monday. The Gustavus men's squad is the defending champion, while the women will look to claim the program's first ever conference title.

Gustavus Volleyball Falls To No. 6-St. Thomas 3-0

The Gustavus volleyball team was unable to match the offense of the University of St. Thomas in a 3-0 loss (25-15, 25-11, 29-27) on Friday night in St. Paul. The Tommies hit 51 kills compared to just 31 for the Gusties en route to the victory. Kyley Crotty led St. Thomas with 15 kills, while no Gustavus player reached double-digit kills. Gustavus fell to 15-3 overall and 3-2 in the conference, while St. Thomas improved its overall record to 16-1 and its MIAC record to 4-0.

Offense Lifts Gustavus Volleyball Over Bethel 3-0

The Gustavus volleyball team's hitters proved to be too much for Bethel University as the Gusties swept the Royals 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-18) in Arden Hills on Wednesday. Head Coach Kari Eckheart's tallied 46 kills compared to 28 for Bethel. Meghan Gehring (Jr., Eau Claire, Wis.) and Olivia Warren (Fy., Goodhue, Minn.) paced Gustavus with 12 and 10 kills, respectively. The Gusties improved to 15-2 overall and 3-1 in the MIAC and the Royals fell to 5-11 overall and 0-4 in conference play.

Women’s Soccer Opens Home Stand With 2-0 Victory Over UW-Stout

The Gustavus women's soccer team opened its seven-game home stand with a 2-0 shutout over the University of Wisconsin-Stout. The Gusties were able to get on the scoreboard early on a goal from sophomore Ashley Anderson. Senior Callie Christensen put the game on ice with her first goal of the season in the second half. Senior goalkeeper Ashley Ohlson got the win for Gustavus recording three saves. The Gusties improve their season mark to 3-5-2, while the Blue Devils fall to 4-5-2 on the season.

Gustavus Football Set to Face St. Thomas for Homecoming

The Gustavus football team will host the University of St. Thomas in a MIAC matchup on Saturday at 1:30 pm at Hollingsworth Field on the Gustavus campus. It is Homecoming Day for the Gusties. Gustavus and St. Thomas enter with identical records of 2-1-0 overall and 1-1-0 in the MIAC.
