Men’s Cross Country Team Reports For Pre-Season Training

Coach Jed Friedrich welcomed 21 runners back to campus to begin training for the 2008 season which will begin Sept. 13 at the Grinnell College Invitational. Senior captains John Leaf and Dan Foley will lead a veteran squad that includes nine juniors and seniors that lettered last season.

Gustie Women’s Soccer Back on Campus for 2008

The Gustavus women's soccer team started preparing for its 2008 season yesterday (August 19) as 39 players reported for pre-season camp . Head Coach Mike Stehlik, who is beginning his 19th season, welcomes back eight starters and 22 letterwinners from a young squad that finished 8-10-0 last year.

Gustavus Volleyball Starts 2008 Campaign

The Gustavus Adolphus College volleyball team arrived on campus Saturday, August 16 to begin its preseason camp for the 2008 campaign. The schedule for the student-athletes consists of a heavy dose of practice and team bonding exercises. For the first-year players these days are important as they adjust to their teammates, the campus, and college competition.

Gustavus Men’s Soccer Team Arrives for 2008 Training Camp

The Gustavus Adolphus College men's soccer team arrived on campus over the weekend to begin its preseason camp for the 2008 campaign. The schedule for the student-athletes consists of a heavy dose of training both on and off the field as they prepare for their season opening road trip to Spokane, Wash. from August 29-31.

Gustie Tennis Players Claim Doubles Titles At Aquatennial Classic

A blend of current and former Gustavus tennis players made their mark at the recent 2008 Boston Scientific Aquatennial Plaza Tennis Classic by claiming men's, women's, and mixed doubles titles. The first title was won by the #2-seed duo of Lauren Hom and Sierra Krebsbach, who defeated Rajasree Hawk and Amy Jamieson 7-6, 4-6, 1-0 (4) in the women's doubles final. Krebsbach (North Oaks, Minn.) will be a junior at Gustavus this fall, and is a two-time All-American in doubles.

Volleyball Team Receives AVCA Team Academic Award

The Gustavus volleyball team, which is coached by Kari Eckheart, recently received the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award. The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.
