Comeback Falls Short as Volleyball Loses To #24-Carleton 3-2

The Gustavus volleyball team fell short of upsetting #24-ranked Carleton losing 3-2 in Northfield Wednesday night. The Gusties came back from being down two games to one, but were unable to complete the comeback losing the fifth set. Jen Thelemann (Le Sueur, Minn.) paced the Gusties offensively with 17 kills. Thelemann also reached the 1,000-kill plateau at the end of the fourth game to become the 12th player in Gustavus history to accomplish this feat.

Women’s Cross Country Ranked 34th in National Poll

The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has ranked the Gustavus women's cross country program 34th in its national poll released Wednesday. Coach Jed Friedrich and the Golden Gusties are coming off a seventh place performance at the 42-team Roy Griak Invitational held in St. Paul last Saturday. The Gusties appearance in the regional and national polls was aided by the fact the team finished higher than five schools ranked in the last week's Central Region poll.

Women’s Golf Wins Riverport Inn Classic in Winona

The Gustavus women's golf team won its third consecutive tournament with a strong showing at the Express Suites Riverport Inn Classic hosted by Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota. The Gusties posted a 36-hole total of 315-314--629 to finish five shots ahead of Division II Upper Iowa. Senior Rachel Roberg finished second individually with a 36-hole total of 74-77-151.

Men’s Golf Finishes Second at Twin Cities Classic

The Gustavus men's golf team finished second out of 17 teams at its own Twin Cities Golf Classic. The final round was played at Minnesota Valley Country Club in Bloomington, Minnesota. Saint John's won the tournament with a total of 294-291-295--880, while Gustavus finished at 289-290-308--887. Individually, Jordan Hawkinson led Gustavus finishing in a tie for second with a total of 72-72-76--220.
