Vander Streek’s Lone Goal Helps Gustavus Continues Winning Ways Defeating St. Norbert 1-0

The Gustavus men's soccer team kept its' shutout streak alive by defeating St. Norbert 1-0 Saturday afternoon in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Sophomore Bret Vander Streek scored the lone goal for the Gusties but that was enough for Coach Zelenz's squad to record the victory. Senior Trevor Brown got his second shutout of the season making seven saves.

Women’s Golf in First Place After First Day of Wartburg Invitational

The Gustavus women's golf team is in first place after the first round of the Wartburg Invitational in Waverly, Iowa. The Gusties fired a first round score of 309 and hold a nine stroke lead over second place Illinois Wesleyan. Gustavus sophomore Kali Griggs is in first place individually after posting a round of 74.

Gustavus Cross Country Has Large Turnout for Alumni Meet

The Gustavus men's and women's cross country teams welcomed past alumni back to Gustavus for the annual alumni meet. A large group turned out in the beautiful weather for the 9 am run through Linneaus Arboretum.

Gustavus Football Team Christens New Stadium With 34-25 Win Over Willamette

The Gustavus Adolphus College football team christened its new football stadium with a thrilling 34-25 come-from-behind win over Willamette University in front of a partisan crowd of nearly 4,000 fans. The Gusties trailed 17-13 heading into the fourth quarter, however Jordan Stolp threw two touchdown passes and Mitch Anderson recorded a 12-yard touchdown run to allow Gustavus to post its second consecutive win over Willamette.

Gustavus Splits Day Two of Gustavus Classic, finishes 2-2 for the Tournament

The Gustavus volleyball team split matches on the last day of the Gustavus Classic defeating St. Scholastica 3-0 before falling to Viterbo 3-1. Gustavus finished the weekend with a 2-2 record and a 6-2 record overall. Seniors Jen Thelemann and Andrea Kron again paced the Gusties with 32 kills and 23 kills, respectively. Kron was named to the eight-member all-tournament team.

Gustavus Volleyball to Host Gustavus Classic

The Gustavus Adolphus volleyball team will be hosting the Gustavus Classic September 7-8. The seven-team tournament will begin pool play Friday, 4:00 pm at Gus Young Court in St. Peter, MN. Competing teams include Carleton, St. Benedict, Martin Luther, St. Scholastica, Viterbo, Nebraska Wesleyan, and Gustavus.

Unbeaten Streak Snapped as Gustavus Volleyball Finishes 1-1 After First Day of Gustavus Classic

Gustavus volleyball saw its unbeaten streak end at five tonight after going 1-1 at the Gustavus Classic. The Gusties defeated Martin Luther 3-0 before losing a 3-2 nail-biter to Nebraska Wesleyan. Seniors Jennifer Thelemann and Andrea Kron put down 31 kills and 29 kills, respectively, during the two matches. Junior Bridget Burtzel contributed 81 assists, while junior Emily Klein amassed 39 digs for the evening.

Women’s Soccer Team Suffers First Loss of the Season, Falling 3-1 to UW-Stevens Point

The Gustavus women's soccer team battled UW-Stevens Point to a 1-1 tie through the first 45 minutes, however the Pointers scored twice within one minute early in the second half to post a 3-1 win over the Gusties in St. Peter. Amy Kunkel scored the lone goal for Gustavus.

Mike Butterworth Named to d3kicks.com National Team of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus senior forward Mike Butterworth (Katy, Texas/Robert Service) was named to the d3kicks.com National Team of the Week after leading the Gusties to two victories this past weekend. Butterworth had stellar performances in Gustavus' 3-0 win over Simpson on Friday and the Gusties 4-0 win over Grinnell on Saturday. Butterworth began the weekend recording a goal and an assist Friday over the Storm. Butterworth later scored all four goals,

Women’s Soccer Improves to 2-0 With 3-1 Win Over Grinnell

The Gustavus women's soccer improved to 2-0 with a 3-1 win over Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa on Saturday afternoon. The Gusties scored twice in the first half and once in the second half to take a 3-0 lead, but Grinnell scored with just under four minutes left to play to make the final score 3-1. Callie Christensen, Christy Tupy, and Julien Babel scored for the Gusties.
