Softball Falls To Luther 2-1 in Eight Innings in First Round of NCAA Regional

The Gustavus softball team lost its opening game in the NCAA Decorah Regional to host Luther 2-1 in eight innings. The game was close throughout as the game was tied 0-0 through five-and-one-half innings. Luther took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth, but the Gusties tied the score at 1-1 in the top of the seventh. The Norse won the game in the bottom of the eighth inning when Erin Michael scored on Tami Magner's bases loaded single.

Heat Sheets Posted for 2007 MIAC Track and Field Championships

Heat sheets have been posted for the 2007 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships to be held Friday-Saturday, May 11-12 at Clemens Stadium on the campus of Saint John's University in Collegeville. The Gustavus women finished second at last year's outdoor championships, while the men took third. St. Thomas is the defending champion for both men and women.

Women’s Golf Team Finishes Third at NCAA Championships, Kosak Places Fifth Individually

The Gustavus women's golf team posted a strong final round score of 328 (+36) and finished third at the NCAA Championships out of 20 teams. The 72-hole tournament, was played at the Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort in Howie-in-the-Hills, Florida. Sophomore Kimbra Kosak wrapped up a very strong tournament with a final round score of 78 (+5). Kosak finished fifth overall (out of 111) with a 72-hole total of 76-77-83-79--314.

Women’s Golf Team Remains In Fourth Place at NCAA Championships, Kosak in Fifth Place Individually

The Gustavus women's golf team remained in fourth place at the NCAA Championships through three rounds. The 72-hole tournament, which is being played at Mission Inn Golf Resort in Howie-in-the-Hills, Florida, will conclude tomorrow.

The Gustavus Adolphus College women's golf team is in fourth place after the second day of the NCAA Division III Championships which are being held at Mission Inn Golf Resort in Howie-in-the-Hills, Florida (near Orlando). The Gusties were once again led by the fine play of sophomore Kimbra Kosak (So., Grand Rapids, Minn.), who fired a four-over par round of 77.

The Gusties were sparked by the fine play of sophomore Kimbra Kosak (Grand Rapids, Minn.), who fired a three-over par round of 76.

Baseball Drops Pair to St. Olaf 12-11, 9-5

The Gustavus Adolphus College baseball team ended its regular season Monday by dropping both ends of a doubleheader to St. Olaf. The Oles took game one 12-11 despite two home runs from Gustavus senior Tony Konicek and then got nine runs in the first two innings and a complete game on the mound from Andy Dimick to take game two 9-5. Gustavus returns to the field Friday at the MIAC Tournament in Northfield with a first-round game against St. Thomas.

Softball Team Selected to Participate in NCAA Tournament

The Gustavus softball team received an at-large bid to participate in the 2007 NCAA Division III Softball Tournament. The Gusties, who are currently 31-8 overall, will play host Luther College in the seven-team Central Regional on Thursday at 12:00 pm. The winner of the Central Regional will advance to the Division III Championship Finals, which will take place May 18-22 in Salem, Virginia.

Men’s Tennis Posts Wins Over Luther, UW-Whitewater; Advances to NCAA Quarterfinals

The Gustavus Adolphus College men's tennis team advanced to the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championships Sunday with a 6-0 win over Wisconsin-Whitewater. The Gusties will face Williams (Mass.) Tuesday, May 15 at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in suburban St. Louis, Mo. Washington University in St. Louis is the host institution. Individual competition in singles and doubles will follow team competition at each site May 18-20.
