Tony Konicek, Mike DesLauriers Named All-Midwest Region by ABCA

Gustavus Adolphus College baseball players Tony Konicek and Mike DesLauriers have been named All-Midwest Region by the American Baseball Coaches Association. Konicek, a three-time All-MIAC selection and two-time MIAC Most Valuable Player, was named to the first team, while DesLauriers picked up third team honors.

Gustavus Adolphus to Send Five to NCAA Track and Field Championships

Gustavus Adolphus College will send five athletes to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships May 24-26 in Oshkosh, Wis. Lisa Brown (javelin), Janna Castellano (pole vault), and Sari Lindeman (triple jump) will compete for the Gustavus women, while Tanner Miest (110 hurdles) and Andy Klaers (discus) will represent the Golden Gustie men.

Jesse Brauer, Andy Bryan Fall in Singles, Doubles Quarterfinals at NCAA Championships

Gustavus Adolphus College men's tennis players Jesse Brauer and Andy Bryan saw their seasons come to an end after losses in both singles and doubles at the 2007 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championships in St. Louis, Mo. Each lost quarterfinal singles matches Saturday morning and then the tandem dropped a three-set doubles match Saturday afternoon.

Tanner Miest Recieves MIAC Honor; Thorkelson Named Women’s Outdoor Coach of the Year

Gustavus Adolphus senior hurdler Tanner Miest (Willmar, Minn./New London-Spicer) and head track and field coach Tom Thorkelson were each honored as the 2007 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Awards were released by the league Friday, May 18. Miest captured the MIAC Men's Outstanding Performance for the second year in a row, while Thorkelson repeated as MIAC Women's Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year.

Jesse Brauer, Andy Bryan Advance to Quarterfinals at NCAA Men’s Tennis Championships in Both Singles and Doubles

Gustavus Adolphus College men's tennis players Andy Bryan and Jesse Brauer each won two singles matches and paired to win a doubles match to advance to the quarterfinals of both the singles and doubles draws at the 2007 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championships at the Dwight Davis Tennis Complex in St. Louis, Mo. Quarterfinals in both draws and semifinals in singles will be contested Saturday.

Lauren Hom, Sierra Krebsbach Fall in Singles, Advance in Doubles at NCAA Tennis Championships

Gustavus Adolphus College women's tennis players Lauren Hom and Sierra Krebsbach each fell in first round singles competition, but rebounded to team for a first round doubles win at the 2007 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va. Hom and Krebsbach will face Siobhan Finicane and Becca Lange of Pomona-Pitzer at 3 p.m. ET in a doubles quarterfinal.

Men’s Tennis Falls to Middlebury 5-1, Places Fourth at NCAA Championships

The Gustavus Adolphus College men's tennis team brought its season to an end Thursday with a 5-1 loss to Middlebury (Vt.) at the NCAA Division III Championships in St. Louis, Mo. Andy Bryan, ranked fifth nationally in singles, picked up Gustavus' lone point with a win at No. 1 singles.

Men’s Tennis Swept by No. 1 UC-Santa Cruz 5-0 at NCAA Championships, Will Face Middlebury Thursday for Third Place

The Gustavus Adolphus College men's tennis team was swept by top-ranked UC-Santa Cruz 5-0 Wednesday in the semifinal round of the NCAA Division III Championships in St. Louis, Mo. Gustavus (27-9) will face Middlebury (21-2) Thursday morning at 10 a.m. for third place.

Gustavus Quartet Named All-MIAC in Softball

Gustavus Adolphus College softball players Joyce DeWitz, Julie Mahre, Abby Bernstein, and Rachael Click have been named to All-MIAC Softball team released by the conference office Monday, May 14. Emily Klein was tabbed as an honorable mention All-MIAC selection. Gustavus finished 32-10 overall, setting a school record for wins en route to a second place finish in the MIAC and a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

Men’s Tennis Holds On For 5-4 Win Over Williams in NCAA Quarterfinals

The Gustavus Adolphus College men's tennis team advanced to the semifinal round of the NCAA Division III Championships with a 5-4 win over Williams (Mass.) Tuesday afternoon in St. Louis, Mo. The fifth-ranked Gusties will face top-ranked UC-Santa Cruz at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 15, at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center.
