The Gustavus Adolphus College men's tennis team posted a trio of wins Saturday to improve to 21-8 overall. Gustavus defeated Wartburg and Carleton by 9-0 scores and Luther by an 8-1 margin. The win over Carleton completed an undefeated MIAC season for the Gusties.
The Gustavus women's golf team fired a first round team score of 337 and trails St. Thomas by one stroke heading into the final round on Sunday. The Gusties were led by Kali Griggs who fired an 18-hole score of 82, which is good for fourth place. The tournament is being played at Northfield Golf Club.
The Gustavus softball team defeated Carleton 12-2 and 8-1 in Northfield on Saturday afternoon to improve to 14-2 overall and 6-0 in the MIAC. The Gusties were led by Rachael Click who went 5-for-6 at the plate with four runs scored and six RBI. She also hit a two-run home run in game one. Joyce DeWitz was the winning pitcher in both games.
The Gustavus Adolphus College track and field teams hosted the seventh annual Lee Krough Invitational Saturday in St. Peter. The Gusties set two facility records, one school record, provisionally qualified three athletes for next month's NCAA Championships and had one ticket automatically punched for the national meet in Oshkosh, Wis. No team scores were kept.
The Gustavus Adolphus College baseball team moved to 10-6 on the season and 4-2 in the MIAC with a doubleheader sweep over Augsburg College Saturday afternoon in St. Peter. Gustavus took game one 5-2 behind a strong pitching performance by Kraig Olson and then pounded out 22 hits in game two to complete the sweep with a 19-3 victory. The Gusties will face Saint John's Sunday afternoon in Collegeville.
The Gustavus Adolphus College track and field team will host the seventh annual Lee Krough Invitational Outdoor Track and Field Meet Saturday, April 14 in St. Peter. Field events begin at 10:30 a.m. with competition in the men's javelin, men's shot put and women's hammer throw. Running events begin at 11:30 a.m. with a combined 10,000-meter run and will follow a rolling schedule.
The Gustavus women's tennis team defeated Bethel 9-0 on Thursday night in Arden Hills, Minn. The Gusties, who did not drop a set in the match, improve to 16-5 overall and 4-0 in the MIAC.
The oft rescheduled MIAC baseball doubleheader between Gustavus Adolphus and Saint John's has been moved from Friday, April 13 to Sunday, April 15. First pitch will be at 1 p.m. from Collegeville. Gustavus' home conference doubleheader against Augsburg will be played as scheduled Saturday, April 14 with first pitch for game one at 1 p.m. in St. Peter.
The Gustavus women's golf team opened its spring schedule with a dual meet win over Webber International University on Friday, April 6. The Gusties outscored WIU 340 to 382. Kimbra Kosak led the team with a score of 83.
The Gustavus men's golf team opened its spring season with an 11th place finish (out of 14 teams) at the Emory University Invitational played at Smoke Rise Golf Club in Stone Mountain, Georgia. The Gusties were led by freshman A.J. Olson who placed 36th with a 36-hole total of 74-81-155.
