Gustavus Men’s Track and Field Fourth After Day One of MIAC Indoor Championships

The Gustavus Adolphus men's indoor track and field team sits fourth after the opening day of competition at the 2007 MIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships at St. Olaf College in Northfield. Gustavus has 39 points, while St. Thomas leads all teams with 123 points. Andy Klaers won the weight throw with a NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 57-7 3/4, while Tyler Geyen took the 55-meter hurdle title in 7.77 seconds.

Women’s Basketball Falls to George Fox 61-47 In First Round Of NCAA Tournament

The Gustavus women's basketball team saw its season come to an end with a 61-47 loss to George Fox in Newberg, Oregon. The Gusties, who trailed 36-19 at halftime, cut the lead to nine at 54-45 with 3:01 left in the game, but that was as close as they would get. Bri Monahan led Gustavus with 15 points. The Gusties finished the season at 22-6.

Friday’s Gymnastics Triangular With UW-Stout and Winona State Canceled

Due to inclement weather in the region, the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference gymnastics triangular between Gustavus Adolphus, UW-Stout, and Winona State scheduled for Friday night in St. Peter has been canceled. The meet will not be made up. All three squads will participate in the WIAC Championships/NCGA West Regional Meet Thursday, March 8 at UW-La Crosse.

Softball Doubleheader with St. Scholastica Postponed to Sunday

Due to inclement weather, Friday night's season-opening softball doubleheader between Gustavus and the College of St. Scholastica at the Rosemount Irish Dome has been postponed. The games have been moved to Sunday, March 4 at the Rosemount Dome with game one getting underway at noon.

Women’s Hockey Tops Hamline 4-1 to Advance to MIAC Playoff Final

The Gustavus Adolphus women's hockey team advanced to Sunday's MIAC Playoff Championship game with a 4-1 win over Hamline Friday night at Don Roberts Ice Rink in St. Peter. Kelly Crandall scored a pair of goals for the Gusties, who will host third-seed St. Thomas Sunday at 1 p.m. at Don Roberts Ice Rink. Molly Doyle added a goal and an assist, while Melissa Mackley added a pair of assists.

Women’s Track and Field Eighth After Day One of 2007 MIAC Indoor Championships

On the strength of its pole vaulting crew, the Gustavus women's indoor track and field team is eighth following the first day of the 2007 MIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships with 24.5 points. St. Thomas leads the way with 62 points. Pole vaulter Janna Castellano captured the first Gustavus women's title of the championships, winning with a school- and meet-record and NCAA automatic qualifying effort of 12 feet, 2 inches.

Monahan, Vadnais Named All-MIAC in Women’s Basketball; Vadnais Named League MVP

Gustavus Adolphus women's basketball players Jess Vadnais and Bri Monahan have been named All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference by a vote of the league's coaches with Vadnais being named the league's Player of the Year. Erin Boese was named to the All-MIAC Defensive Team. Ashley Raymo was Gustavus' representative on the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team.

Sowden, Wittwer Named All-MIAC in Men’s Basketball

Gustavus Adolphus men's basketball players Phil Sowden and Trevor Wittwer have been named All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference by a vote of the league's coaches. Jesse Van Sickle was named to the All-First Year Team, while Tyler Kramer was selected to the Sportsmanship Team.

Women’s Hockey Playoff Game with Hamline Postponed to Friday

Due to inclement weather in the region, the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Hockey Playoff Semifinal between Gustavus and Hamline scheduled for Thursday evening has been postponed until Friday evening at 7 p.m. at Don Roberts Ice Rink. Should Gustavus win, the Gusties would host the MIAC Playoff Championship game Sunday, March 4 at 1 p.m. at Don Roberts Ice Rink.
